Selling Dabawenyo delicacies

Since last year, I’ve been thinking about featuring Dabawenyo delicacies on DavaoDeli.com. And selling them here. The other night, I had a breakthrough. A Filipino celebrity, who has now made Davao his second home, has agreed to partner with me in this little venture. My dear friend Wency Cornejo has in fact been quietly establishing [...]

Tiny Kitchen

This delightful little restaurant is a proud addition to Davao’s culinary landscape. Their paella and pasta offerings are highly recommended, and they are also well-known for their bread and pastries.

GRUB Resto•Café

You will surely love their large portions and the tastiness of their dishes. The Dino Chops that I had was humongous! But more than that, it was prepared lovingly with finely-chopped parsley and golden garlic. It comes with brown rice, but I think you can order a side of mashed potatoes instead.

The Cake Monster

Doc Jaime is an Apple fanboy, and is my go-to guy for all things iPod. On his birthday, his friends got him not a cake but a box of 20 cup cakes that looked like the home screen of an iPod touch. The cup cakes were created by Emily, The Cake Monster. On her site, [...]

Kopi Roti

As coffee shops go, Kopi Roti is a sure win. It has the benefit of having a franchiser who’ll certainly go to lengths to keep quality high and standards followed. And yet, it’s not a very expensive place in which to enjoy good coffee. Not cheap, but the prices aren’t like those of the more [...]

Of civets and kangaroos

Kangaroo Coffee Company launched last Saturday to a group of bloggers their specialty blend, Kape Balos. It’s civet coffee! How can I put this in a way that won’t make you feel queasy…? Well, it’s arguably the most expensive coffee in the world. That should tell you something about the quality and taste of this [...]

Sugar Munch pastries

Part of the Davao Food Appreciation Tour (“DavaoFAT”wink, an event I’d concocted to help promote Davao restaurants, was a showcase of cakes and silvanas by Sugar Munch. It was a perfect way to end Day #2 of DavaoFAT — a cornucopia of heavenly pastries! The bloggers were given several boxes of cakes and some rolls [...]

Lachi’s – only the finest ingredients

Lachi’s has been around for several years now, but I’ve never been there until tonight. Thanks to Ria, who brought three of “the usual suspects” to dinner, I’ve finally sampled their exquisite cooking. Ria got an item on her Christmas wish list fulfilled when Mike & Melvin Aviles, proprietors of Lachi’s, invited her and some [...]

Swiss Deli-cious

Had dinner tonight at Swiss Deli & Restaurant, and I must say, it was a culinary treat! I know their steaks are a sought-after item there, but lately I’ve been sticking to a fish diet, so I went for their Fillet of Mahi-Mahi (₱190). Mahi-Mahi is locally called pandawan, or otherwise known as dolphin-fish. Its [...]
