Night out with bloggers
by Blogie on 8 Dec 2007 {Party}
Last night was supposed to be a get-together of The Usual Suspects and blogger friends, but there were so many things happening, and some of the TUS members weren’t around. So, it was just me with Migs, Winston, Jun (who stayed with us for just a short while), Aileen, and my old friend Rodney (who’s supposed to blog as part of his being a Microsoft MVP).
After Aileen’s scheduled participation at a students and educators’ convention, we met up at Fwendz Diner. There was a drink-all-you-can party for IT types, so it was but natural that we begin the night there. And we had late dinner there. Must-try items on the menu: Baby Back Ribs (P99 only!!) and Barbecue Ribs (I forgot the price…). They also have some Mexican dishes that I enjoy a lot, like their Quesadilla and Chimichanga.
Next we hied off to Pops Resto•Bar for Nokia’s launching of their new 5310 model. (I don’t really write about mobile phones, but do read Migs’ post.) It was yet another open-bar affair! Don’t you just love parties sponsored by big-ticket brands?
Pops used to be the hip club of Davao — for several years. But now there are contenders, like the one very near, Urban Club. Both are in the Wheels & More Drive complex. We had a good time at the Nokia party at the beginning… but after a while, it seemed like nothing was going on but the usual crowd and DJs spinning. I must admit, we were hoping there’d be a program or something (read: mobile phones to be given away).
We finally ended up at Basti’s Brew, which stays open up to 2:00 AM on weekends. Nothing like a good cup of coffee after a night filled with booze!
