It is always very pleasing when you discover a restaurant that gives you that warm, homey feeling as soon as you walk in. That’s how it is at GRUB Resto•Café. There is in this place a delightful mix of cozy ambience and good, hearty food.
GRUB Resto•Café used to be located in another part of town, but has now transferred to Gov. Duterte St., across the street from Shakeys, in downtown Davao City. This area has always been known as a food district, and is showing no signs of slowing down.

You will surely love their large portions and the tastiness of their dishes. The Dino Chops (₱185 for the regular; ₱110 – Junior; ₱300 – Senior, which is served with two slabs) that I had was humongous! But more than that, it was prepared lovingly with finely-chopped parsley and golden garlic. It comes with brown rice, but I think you can order a side of mashed potatoes instead. Oh and the apple sauce that’s served with this is a total taste match (but there’s no stopping you from asking for the good ol’ Filipino-style dip of soy sauce, calamansi and siling labuyo).
The appetizers that we had were winners, too — Cheese Loaf (₱140) and Buff Wings (₱128). The Cheese Loaf is a basket of sliced french bread, sprinkled with herbs, with two types of cheese melted over, slice of ham, and a dash of Tabasco.
The buffalo wings were promised to be very hot & spicy, but for me, it was just normal fare (well, I do eat chili for breakfast, so…). Still, it was finger-lickin’ good!
Weekends, they have special items not on the menu, and currently it’s Seafood Chowder, which has baby clam, fish, abalone. I still have to try it, but knowing that they prepare it from scratch, I will certainly be back very soon! Their coffee brews are also on my to-do list.
Proprietors Elisa Tay and Dotty Du have created a comfortable setting for intimate gastronomic gatherings, one that will not fail to please both eyes and palates. The service is personalized, especially when the two ladies are in attendance. Do give Grub Resto•Café a try soon! They’re open everyday except Sunday, from 11:00 AM to 10:30 PM.

Kaon ta didto next time you’re in Davao!
yeah!
I ate at Grub the first day that they opened up on Gov. Duterte Street (didn’t realize they had been located elsewhere). I liked the ambiance of the place – like you say, cozy and a nice welcoming feeling. Food was excellent too. The only thing I didn’t care for was the buffalo wings. For me, it didn’t have a real “buffalo wings” flavor!
But, that’s OK, because so many of the other dishes we tried were excellent. Good prices too.
Hi Bob…being residents of Davao and sometimes visitor only to the US…i’m not familiar with the real “buffalo wings” flavor…would appreciate if you can give us an idea we would love to improve on the taste of our food…thank you for the comment…hope to see you back here at Grub.
Thanks for the heads up, Blogie! Will surely check this when I visit Davao again. Kaka miss ang Davao! =)
@Mindanao Bob – I knew you’d like the place, too.
@Elisa – See you back very soon!

My pleasure entirely, I assure you! We’ll definitely be back very soon.
homerun pie looks so sinfully good.
It’s absolutely yummy! Tastes like Babe Ruth candy bar, hence the name.

It is!! I hope you’ll let me know what you think of Grub when you do get to visit.
Been here twice, I liked their food but matagal masyado ma served. It will take almost 1 hour kaya di ako nag enjoy..
Mr. Blogie, can you also feature some vegetarian restaurants in Davao? ☺
That’s a good idea. Sige, I’ll do my best to feature vegetarian restos here.
I’ve tried this place only once and has since been looking forward to my next visit. I’ve tried the sauteed pasta and the buffalo wings, loved them both. On my next visit, I’d like to try something else!
Wow!
I’ll be home soon, I’m looking forward for some taste bud awakening in this resto.cafe. just want to know if the buff wings come along with those calamares, as seen in the picture, and how many person can this serve? hehhe..sumptuous meal for a reasonable price is simply perfect.
Hello, Ms. Elle! The calamares dish is separate, but it’s a must-have.
hello blogie, just want to ask kung may delivery na ang GRUB? miss the food …….
@mam Elisa..hope to see you pagbalik ko ng davao this November
Ang adobo flakes ng Gerry’s Grill, siguradong magugustuhan mo rin — that is, if you like the dry variety.i’ll try this one when i go back to davao.
hey, thanks for sharing, like this sites so much. I’m Indonesian and live in Davao, of course for Studying. so , this blog very helpful. and for Grub , I tried last week with my Gf and we both like Grub so muchoo..haha
