Spirale Ristorante

Doubtless, the most common international cuisine present in Davao is Italian. In fact, many restaurant goers here probably don’t consider tortellini or cannelloni or linguine as foreign food anymore. Much less pizza!
So, another addition to Davao City’s collection of Italian restaurants is Spirale Ristorante, which opened about a couple of months ago. I was there today for lunch with a friend from high school, Sarah, and we had quite a satisfying culinary experience. Sarah had eaten already, so she just kept me company with a unique-tasting Blueberry Cheese Cake (₱110).
I had the Beef Marsala (₱380), which was oh-so tender and delectable. I really loved the refreshingly new taste that this dish offered me. The vegetable bed where the beef fillets rested on was also a delight — the carrots were fresh and al dente and the white onions were cooked just right. The asparagus, though, were rather scrawny. Also, I was a bit disappointed with the dish (just a tiny bit) because it wasn’t quite what I was expecting. See, I was looking forward to something heavier, especially in terms of its sauce. Marsala is supposed to be a thick sauce, almost like gravy already, owing to the egg and bread crumbs that are supposed to be in the mix. But apart from that, it was an enjoyable dish.
Sarah and I also shared a Gamberi Ali Olio. That was a good dish as well, especially because it had lots of golden garlic swimming in olive oil. (At P215 per order, I think it’s safe to assume it was olive oil.) Thing is, the waiter said that it’s a really spicy dish. It was most definitely not. Still, the shrimps were fresh and steamed to perfection, so this dish does get a thumbs-up from me.
While my friend and I were catching up on each other, we noticed several orders buzzing past us, and they sure looked good! I saw a mouth-watering-looking osso buco, and a very attractive dish of spare ribs. Their pizzas looked interesting, too. They do have the perfect oven for pizzas, so I’m going to give that a try next time.
One thing I found odd, though. When the Beef Marsala was served, it turned out it was just that dish — no side of potatoes or whatever. When I asked if they had risotto or any kind of bread, the waiter seemed at a loss. In short, they don’t have those. So I just ordered plain rice (₱25).

The blogger at Spirale Ristorante
Spirale Ristorante is a small, comfortable place, with a seating capacity of about 40 people. They do have a few tables outside, so when the weather’s nice, I suppose it’s OK to dine al fresco. The restaurant is in the new Damosa Business Center (ground floor), beside Caffè Firenzo. Address: Damosa Complex, Angliongto Road (more commonly known as Mamay Road), Lanang, Davao City. They are open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. Tel.: 234-6298 234-6299.
Do give the place a try. It could be the ideal place for a power lunch, or even a date to impress that significant other. But prepare your wallet for some pumping because it’s definitely not an inexpensive place. Their food, however, is well worth every cent!

Hi! We atein Spirale twice already. You should try the grilled Lamb Riblets. I agree with you that they should have at least a side dish of potatoes or risotto with their main dishes. But aside from that, I would go back and try the other dishes=)

Hi Blogie – I really like Spirale. I’ve been there many times already. Feyma and I love the place. You can say what you want about the chef…. but there is a waitress there who kind of makes lunch a little more enjoyable.
I like the pizzas there a lot. Try the Mango Brusciotto too, it’s great.

happy new year blogie. Is this the resto beside cafe firenzo? Should’ve given it a try instead of dining at cafe firenzo ulit,Hay hindi kc ako nagbasa dito before mag-food hunt. The blueberry cheesecake’s kinda telling me “kainin mo na ako, dali!”
. yum yum, made me salivate. Ok, stop. i’m no longer making any sense na. hehehe..Anyway, thanks for this post blogie, I’d love to try this place soon.
