Here’s a toast to Davao’s coolest Italian bistro: Salutti!
The name might suggest Italian cuisine, but Salutti in fact serves fusion food — traditional Italian fare recreated into modern, adventurous and delectable dishes. It’s a small affair, but a very cozy, well-appointed and refreshing addition to Davao’s restaurant scene. I highly recommend the place for intimate gatherings and even for power lunches.
The 4th leg of the Davao Food Trip found the bloggers at the Habana Compound, which is looking more and more like Manila’s Malate, last 19 January. Tricie, our very gracious and generous host, served us a feast at Salutti. It was supposed to be just merienda… but check out what was on our table:
- Spinach Dip
- Chicken Fingers
- Kani Salad
- Asian Beef Panini
- Vegetarian Panini
- Alfredo with Shiitake Mushrooms & Roasted Garlic
- Tomato, Garlic & Basil Spaghetti
- Gambas
- Salpicao
- Chicken in Mushroom Cream Sauce
- Chocolate Cake and Cheese Cake
I was especially impressed with the Kani Salad (P140), which is an example of their fusion food offerings, and the Spaghetti Alfredo (P145). Actually, everything that they prepared for us was excellent: a testament to the proprietors’ care in creating gourmet fare. Plus, the servings are really ample, so sometimes one order can be good for 2 people.
Their Salpicao (P195) and Gambas (185), I should say, go very well indeed with beer or — one of my favorite drinks — Cuba Libre. I must warn you, however, that the salpicao is potent! Perfect for people who love spicy food (like me).

I went to Salutti last night and was very disappointed. i order the Beef Stew but the moment it was serve my first phrase was “Your meal looks delicious than mine” looking at the Chicken Mushroom plate of my friend. Not only did the presentation sucks but the beef seems like it was bath with oil of some kind (too much oil). I wasn’t able to finish my beef and i didn’t even thought of asking for a doggy bag for it. Our askals might not like it too. Anyway, I have been to some of the places you’ve mention here. Last night wasn’t just my night.
I always enjoy dinning out in the city. Even if my mother told me to minimize my hunting. I like your site because it gave me tremendous ideas about the culinary adventures here in Davao City. Keep postings!

blogie i highly suggest you try Belito’s Restaurant, in Palm Drive.. thier Paella Negra and Steamed Fish is to die for!

@idopr — Is that place what they used to call “My Brother’s Kitchen”? The one in the Ferrazzini compound? If that’s the one, then I have been there already when it was an invite-only restaurant. And yes, their Paella Negra is superb!
